I think most people expect a lullaby when it comes to a relationship with God. We’ve all behaved like babies for too long. We want someone to sing us to sleep again and tell us that they’ll take care of everything for us. The most basic Biblical principles cause us to squirm. C.S. Lewis wrote, “A ‘liberal’ Christianity which considers itself free to alter the Faith whenever Faith looks perplexing or repellent must be completely stagnant. Progress is made only into a resisting material.” He called these topics we hesitate to discuss “repellent doctrines.”

Hungry for the truth?
Some believers feel that the Word of God should not offend anyone. They consume fast-food sermons and rarely fill themselves with mature teachings in Bible study.
